Introduction
The idea about WinSVN came up some time in 2004. At that time I was looking for a version control software for WinShell, a free multilingual integrated development environment (IDE) for LaTeX and TeX, which I develop. I started to work and test on Subversion which had its first release in 2004.
Nevertheless, I took quite some time to have the first alpha version of WinSVN. This was simply due to the fact, that I was busy with a lot of other activities.
Mainly, there are four reasons for developing WinSVN:
- Local development for WinShell
- A single mainline for WinShell
- Tag versions for WinShell
- Test WinShell on a branch and merge back

FileVersion 0.9.0.1 with some minor bug fixes.

This is pure alpha status. Use wise and careful!
The first version has a German and an English user interface. It supports local subversion activities only, with a Windows Explorer-like look and feel.
